Eleanor Rigby's grave is located in the grounds of St Peter's Church,
Woolton Village, in south Liverpool, England
The church is just a few hundred feet away from 'where it all began'...
Back in 1957, a young John Lennon was performing with his skiffle group, The
Quarry Men, so called because of the quarry nearby, at the Woolton Summer
Fete held in the church grounds
Paul had been invited along by a school friend, and was introduced to John
Thus started a relationship that was to rock the world for years to come
So, in those early years when John and Paul would have been treading the
cobbles of Woolton, could they have maybe spotted this grave and stored the
name for this song?
The locals would certainly agree with that, and many visitors from around
the world come to see Eleanor Rigby, and spend a few reflective moments in
the beautiful grounds of the church
Woolton is truly a quaint part of the city and is always popular with
sightseers, especially during the summer when the locals decorate the
streets with beautiful ornamental flowers for the 'Woolton In Bloom Festival'
