20 Forthlin Road was the childhood home of Paul McCartney who was part of a pop group who were quite famous in the 1960's, The Beatles
He and his younger brother Mike, who was also in a pop group, The Scaffold, lived here from 1955, until Paul returned from The Beatles American tour in 1964
After Paul's first meeting with John Lennon at the Woolton Parish Church Garden Fete on 6th July 1957,it was here that many of The Beatles' songs were composed
The house now belongs to the National Trust, and has been recreated,using photographs taken by Mike McCartney, to look just like it did when the boys lived there
The house is open to visitors but by pre-arrangement only, and the tour also takes in Mendips, the childhood home of John Lennon, which is just a short distance away
Forthlin Road is in the Allerton area of Liverpool, and within a short drive you will also find Strawberry Fields, Eleanor Rigby's grave, Woolton Village (where it all began) and Penny Lane - and there are features on all these locations right here on this website
