It was on March 15th 2002, that Yoko Ono visited the city to unveil the John
Lennon bronze at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Liverpool, England
The seven foot statue was sculpted by well known Merseyside artist and
sculptor, Tom Murphy of Wirral
Amongst Tom's other works are the Bill Shankley statue located at Liverpool
Football Club's ground in Anfield, Lady Diana'
s statue, located in Colwyn Bay North Wales, and Dixie Dean's statue,
located at Everton Football Club's ground
Miniature versions of the statue are available to purchase from various
stores around the city. If you're struggling to find a shop selling these,
a
good bet is to try The Beatles Shop in Matthew Street in the city centre
Anyway, this statue is a must see for any Beatles fan and you will find the
seven foot version inside the terminal building of Liverpool John Lennon
Airport
Follow the stairs for 'Departures' and the statue is to your right, so have
your camera ready!
