This may look like just an ordinary house that you’d find in any ordinary street in Liverpool
But this is no ordinary house
This is Mendips, the childhood home of one Mr John Lennon, who would later find fame in a pop group called The Beatles and is, of course, located in the city of Liverpool, England
But you don’t need us to tell you that, do you?
Mendips is one of many National Trust properties to be found on Merseyside, which basically means it is open to members of the public
John’s childhood home has been converted in to how it would have looked in the 1940’s and 50’s, and is also a museum of John’s life
This very week there have been some new artefacts included in the already impressive and unique collection, these new additions having been donated by John’s widow, Yoko Ono Lennon
One of these artefacts is John’s first passport which shows stamps from early Beatle trips around the world including the Beatles’ first trip to Hamburg along with Japan, America, New Zealand and Finland
Also in the Lennon collection you will see copies of his post war identity cards and school reports, and there’s even a collection of caricatures drawn by John of his school teachers
A visit to Mendips is, of course, a must for any die hard Beatles fan, and is located in Menlove Avenue in south Liverpool, tours of the house do need to be booked in advance though
Paul McCartney’s childhood home is also open to visitors and is a short drive (or even walk) from here
A short drive (or brisk walk) away, is Woolton village, where John and Paul first met, and the famous Strawberry Fields
