The Port of Liverpool Building, pictured, is one of three marvellous buildings adorning Liverpool’s waterfront
The three marvellous buildings mentioned are actually known as
‘The Three Graces’, the other two being the Royal Liver Building and the Cunard Building
Built in 1907, it was designed by Arnold Thornley with Briggs and Wolstenholme, and is now a Grade II listed building
The building, it has been suggested, was originally designed as a competition entry for the building of Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral, of course this entry didn’t actually win the competition but thank goodness it didn’t go to waste!
The building was originally the home of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, today one of the city’s top visitor attractions and well worth a look inside, especially if you enjoy beautiful architecture and are interested in the history of Liverpool
